About

I was born in Tehran, Iran but I barely remember the country, as I was two years old when we left for good to move to Düsseldorf, Germany. However, my Persian is pretty good. So yes, we can have a chat in Persian if this is all what you wanted to ask.

I studied Business Management in Germany (RWTH Aachen) and France (École supérieure de commerce de Reims). After a year of unsuccessful startup experience, I started my PhD-program at the University of Oldenburg in Germany. As startups usually lack a big resource base, I wanted to dig deeper how a few of them manage to compete with bigger competitors. In my thesis, I examined  – via ethnographic methods – if Bricolage (creative making do with resources at hand) has a positive or negative impact on the competitiveness of startups. To put it bluntly, research question is: how does Bricolage shape strategy? So my topic is situated in the scholarly field of strategic entrepreneurship (a nexus of entrepreneurship and strategy management). It’s written in German and available in print and as an e-book. During my PhD-years I founded a social games company focusing on strategy games. Didn’t work, but learnt a lot. I’m not giving up!

I have fully experienced the recent innovations of education, especially through participating in many MOOCs (including the first gamification course offered by the renowned Wharton Business School and Stanford’s start-up engineering) and by accomplishing most Codecademy tracks. I seriously share the excitement about education and technology. However, I still see room for more innovation. And that’s where the next project I’m working on will come into play: True Open Education called Crowducate – Democratize Education. Enjoy Education. Let me know what you think. Besides, Sign up to read more here about Crowducate and other endeavours as case studies for great academics concepts which help you to gain a better understanding of this phenomenon called Entrepreneurship.
